The Pursuit of Compassion

Thich Nhat Hannh says it so well. Sometimes we strive to achieve that which seems extraordinary in an effort to draw recognition and praise but in the personal pursuit of credit we often forget to concentrate on the simpler things in life. We over look the creative practises of compassion, acceptance, tolerance, trust and love. We become obsessed with our strides for success that our authentic nature becomes a mere shadow in the eyes of the ego.

We don’t need to be on the front page of the paper or on prime time TV to make a difference in the lives of others. We can be an inspiration and a forerunner in representing consciousness through the simple acts of kindness and patience. Opportunities arise all day long that challenge us to be responsive rather than reactive, understanding as opposed to confrontational, selfless in the search for ourselves in others and to express our divinity through love rather then fear.
